Malta holds China-themed children's art competition

The 11th edition of the children's art competition in Malta entitled "Imagining China" concluded on Friday.
A total of 124 works of art were submitted to the competition from seven schools by students between grade five and eight.
After careful selection by senior art teachers in Malta, six works won top awards.

"China and Malta differ in size but both have a long history and a splendid culture, as well as kind and genial people," said Chinese Ambassador to Malta Jiang Jiang.
"I hope that each one of (the participating students) will maintain the heart of a child, strengthen education, enhance artistic accomplishment, and be a benefit to society and country, as well as promote the understanding and friendship between China and Malta, or even beyond in a broader context, to bridge the East and the West."

A total of 31 of the submitted works of art have been selected for a special exhibition to be hosted by Malta's Ministry for Education and Employment till June 7, 2019.
The competition was co-organized by the country's Ministry for Education and Employment and the China Cultural Center in Malta, and was sponsored by Shanghai Electric Power (Malta) Holding Co., Ltd.
