In the U-S state of California, a man convicted of the 2014 murder of a Chinese student has been sentenced to life behind bars.
21-year old Andrew Garcia was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday in Los Angeles. In May, Garcia was convicted of killing 24-year old Ji Xinran - a graduate student at the University of Southern California. Authorities say Ji was fatally beaten with a baseball bat while walking home from USC's campus in July 2014. One of Garcia's co-defendants, 19-year old Alejandro Guerrero, was also convicted of murder in Ji's death last fall. Guerrero is still awaiting sentencing, while two other co-defendants are awaiting trial.
