Toad inflated itself to avoid being eaten by bird in South Africa

A hamerkop appeared to have eyes bigger than its stomach as it struggled to swallow a bloated toad in South Africa. The toad quickly inhaled air and inflated to twice its size to avoid being eaten by the bird. Unfortunately, the toad still died as the bird used its sharp beak to remove the air from the toad and its body remained inflated after death. /VCG Photo
