The construction of Jing-Zhang high-speed railway is the first case in China to have coped with 25-kilometer-long large ramps, whose slope is 30 percent.  This means that parts of the line could rise or drop by 30 meters in a range of 1000 meters.
The constructors have overcome the challenge by using new equipment designed by themselves and are going to face more from nature such as coldness and strong winds.

Once completed, the 174-kilometer-long line will connect Beijing with Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province in 50 minutes, bringing together the mutual advantages of the two cities. The high-speed railway will also be a key component to the transportation system of 2022 Winter Olympics, as it will connect major venues for the games including Beijing, YanQin, and Zhangjiang.
