The death toll from Monday's 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the northern Philippines has risen to 16, the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Tuesday.
Over 80 people were injured and 14 others are missing following the earthquake.
The institute said the quake, which struck at 5:11 p.m. local time, hit at a depth of 12 kilometers, about two kilometers northeast of Castillejos town in Zambales province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered an immediate assessment of areas affected by the earthquake.
All flights at Clark International Airport have been canceled and the airport will be closed for 24 hours due to the damage to the building.
Public schools and government offices in Metro Manila and outlying provinces were closed on Tuesday to make way for inspection of the buildings.
Right after the earthquake, power outages occurred in some affected areas in Luzon and efforts are underway to restore power.
