Trump, Kim meet for conversation, dinner during summit in Hanoi

The second summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un is underway in Vietnam's capital city Hanoi, eight months after the historic first meeting between a sitting American president and a DPRK leader took place in Singapore. 
Here are some highlights of the first day of the summit.

Trump and Kim, accompanied by guests and interpreters from both sides, have begun their social dinner.

Trump and Kim shake hands in front of cameras at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam on the first day of the second summit between the two sides.
Trump predicted the talks over the DPRK's nuclear program would be "very successful." 
Kim was also positive about the second summit and was quoted as saying: "I am certain that a great outcome will be achieved this time that will be welcomed by all people."
The conversation between the two leaders mainly focused on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. "Let's just wait and see what happens," said Trump when asked if the two sides would agree to a peace treaty during the summit.

Trump has arrived at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi for the second summit with Kim.
Trump arrived in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Tuesday night local time.
DPRK leader Kim Jong Un has arrived at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on the first day of the second Trump-Kim summit.
Kim arrived in Vietnam on Tuesday for a summit with Trump, where they will try to reach an agreement on a DPRK pledge to give up its nuclear weapons program.
