Former Argentine Diego Armando Mardona said on Saturday that Croatia have a great chance of winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. “I think, as a former player, I would keep Croatia a little ahead in this final,” the 1986 World Cup-winner said on his daily show “By the Hand of the Ten.”
However, he said that he feels “France are the hot favourites with the kind of resources they have and they have got a slew of good youngsters who have shown tremendous growth.”
“It’s an amazing achievement for Croatia to reach the final,” mentioned Maradona.
“France could win if their strikers (Kylián) Mbappé, that (Olivier) Giroud create more chances and if (N'Golo) Kante excels in the midfield.”
In addition, he stressed on the fact that none of the teams come with much advantages in the game which will be held in Luzhniki stadium in Moscow. “Croatia are first-time finalists and they have never won anything. Therefore, they will have the hunger and urge to win the coveted silverware.”
