“Engagement with audiences are important, we don't just broadcast the news, but also get the public opinions,” said Brent O'Halloran, foreign coordinator of Australia's Sky News in an interview during the second CGTN Global Media Summit and the eight Video Media Forum on Wednesday.
O'Halloran said some media are catching up while others are lagging behind in the era of traditional media's convergence with new media.
"I'm proud that Sky News in Australia is leading the way in Australia in the use of the individual platforms, and getting different audiences across different platforms,” he added.
He said that the Sky News has already applied social media platforms to their news broadcast, like posting Q&A parts during federal elections on Twitter and Facebook.
But he added that accuracy is still important, especially in the current climate. As audiences could easily get access to any kind of information, it becomes even more important that the information they get is accurate.
