The Kazaks are an ethnic group who primarily live in the western and northern parts of Central Asia. In China, there are about 1.5 million Kazakhs, and around 90 percent of them live in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Some Kazak people still live a traditional nomadic life on grasslands. Men and women, young and old, are skilled horse riders. They traditionally make their living from livestock raising and animal husbandry.
