This visit comes after the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday.
Pompeo was also scheduled to arrive in the Republic of Korea (ROK) later in the day to meet the ROK's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.
Seoul's foreign ministry said Pompeo and Kang will have a bilateral meeting and a trilateral meeting, including Japanese counterpart on Thursday in Seoul before holding a joint press conference.
It will mark the first official visit by the top US diplomat to the Republic of Korea (ROK) since he took office in April.
