The five-day SCO Film Festival concluded in the east China city of Qingdao on Sunday. All the eight member states and four observers sent 165 guests to the festival.

Delegations have submitted 23 films for a review by a panel of 12 judges, with one from each of the 12 countries attending the festival. Six out of the 23 films won the “Golden Seagull Award,” among which “Enter the Forbidden City" from China and “Mina Walking” from Afghanistan won the Best Film awards.
The first SCO Film Festival is held in response to the call from Chinese President Xi Jinping on strengthening cultural bonds during the last SCO summit in Astana. It is also an important part of cultural events around this year’s Qingdao summit.

During the festival, some selected films from the 12 countries were presented to the audiences through a special section called “in-focus show,” where each country presented one of their best films to the audience through a press conference and a public screening.
This festival has set up a new platform for cultural exchanges and enabled closer connections for people in film and cultural creation. It is expected to be held regularly in the future as part of the series of SCO events around the summit.
