Multiple people were shot at a bank in the Midwestern US city of Cincinnati on Thursday morning, according to media reports.

Cincinnati Police confirmed on Twitter they were "investigating active shooter/officer involved shooting incident at Fifth Third Bank."

The shooting occurred in the bank's lobby and loading dock, according to police.

Local media reported that several people were shot and transported to hospital, and the scene was secured at 9:15 am Eastern time.

A large police presence cordoned off a portion of the city's downtown area, and several ambulances could be seen at the scene. 

WKRC television said that four victims were admitted to an area hospital.

CNN reported that at least three people have been injured and one man is now in custody, but the police hasn't made an official announcement yet.
