African leaders refute the view of "new colonialism" at FOCAC. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that Africa is not infected by new colonialism and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is an effective platform for South-South cooperation. Rwanda President Paul Kagame, also the African Union chairperson, said the relationship between Africa and China is "based on equality, mutual respect, and commitment to shared well-being."
