Eight people are confirmed dead after a ferry boat capsized in a river in the southern Indian state of Karnataka on Monday afternoon, a local official said. The boat, carrying dozens of people traveling to a temple on a remote island, capsized on its return. A search and rescue operation has been launched by the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
