At the ongoing Meihekou International Basketball Championship in northeast China's Jilin Province, China's blue team scripted a thrilling 91-86 win over Ukraine in their second game after hammering Angola on Thursday. It was Wu Qian who guided the host team to pick up their second straight win.
With Ukraine leading by one point in the first quarter, Wu's corner three put China ahead. The point guard stayed hot in the second quarter as he nailed another one of his seven threes this game.
Things got ugly in the third quarter between Maksym Pustozvonov and Ren Junfei and the Ukrainian, subsequently, received a technical foul.
Three minutes into the fourth quarter, two of Hu Jinqiu's 20 points gave China a 73-61 lead. But Ukraine kept fighting and Ihor Zaitsev spearheaded their comeback attempts as they were trailing by nine points.
With 10 seconds left China's lead was reduced to three points, but Vyacheslav Bobrov fell down and China Blue hung on to win 91-86. China will face Serbia in the next game.
