A border guard with acute appendicitis was airlifted to a hospital after roads were blocked by heavy snow in Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China. The guard had suffered from severe abdominal pain, which was preliminarily diagnosed as acute appendicitis. The command post contacted a brigade in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to dispatch helicopters to facilitate the transfer. After a two-hour flight, he was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
