China's Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming on Tuesday announced the new measures that will be launched at the upcoming 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing summit.
"Each year's forum will launch a series of cooperative initiatives, and what I can say right now is the characteristics of the new measures that will be launched at the upcoming summit," Qian said at the press conference briefing the media on China-Africa economic and trade cooperation ahead of the FOCAC Beijing Summit.
This year's summit will pay more attention to cultivating Africa's domestic growth capacity, which means African countries will be able to participate extensively in the design of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation in the coming future and the two sides can jointly discuss and embody the spirit of the Belt and Road Initiative."
The minister highlighted that China will introduce more core infrastructure, especially a boost in human resources training rather than just offer aid, to African countries.
He also mentioned measures that will focus more on both soft and hard infrastructure instead of just focusing on one, as done in the past.
Since being established 18 years ago in Beijing, the FOCAC has achieved fruitful results and has become a significant mark of China-Africa cooperation.
The preparation for this year's summit is proceeding well, and it is scheduled for Sept. 3-4 in Beijing.
