China's National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing will stage "The Pearl Fishers," a classic opera by French composer Georges Bizet, from May 15 to 19.
The show, a co-production of the NCPA and Berlin State Opera House, premiered in Berlin in June 2017 and is said to mark the profound cooperation between the two entities for the first time.

It tells a story set in an ancient island country on the Indian Ocean where the bond of two best friends is interrupted by the arrival of a beautiful girl, and the romantic love triangle among them leads to dramatic consequences.
German film director Wim Wenders, who was presented with an Honorary Golden Bear at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival for his lifetime achievements, uses his talent and experience to direct an opera for the first time.
