The ministry's spokesperson Lu Kang said at a regular press briefing that the Hong Kong court's decision to maintain a normal public order is unobjectionable.
We firmly support Hong Kong in punishing the main organizers and planners of the 2014 illegal "Occupy Central" movement, Lu said.
He also said he would like to remind everyone in other countries that taking this decision as damaging to the social freedom of the Hong Kong SAR is unreasonable and unfounded.
"Just look at what happened in other countries and you can come to a fair, unbiased conclusion," he added.
Nine leaders of the 2014 illegal "Occupy Central" movement were found guilty of public nuisance offenses on Tuesday at a court in Hong Kong. The illegal movement caused serious damage to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
