Peking University made an announcement Saturday afternoon on its official Weibo account regarding the widespread public accusation against Chinese actor Zhai Tianlin, who was just enrolled as a post-doctorate candidate in the university's Guanghua School of Management this February.

The announcement disclosed the latest information of the investigation into the actor and confirmed he had engaged in academic misconduct.

The announcement also approved the Guanghua School's decision to expel the actor from its post-doctorate program.

At the end of the announcement, the University stated its harsh attitude toward academic misbehavior, including counterfeiting application materials, violating academic morality, and loose auditing during the recruitment process.

The university also said there will be zero tolerance toward accountable parties in such cases.

Zhai was previously regarded by fans as one of the few actors with outstanding academic achievements in China.

About a week ago, he appeared to not know the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), a commonly used thesis pool that are familiar even to bachelors' students, during a livestream session, thus arousing intense debate and widespread public doubt.
