Play was first stopped as fans from host Panathinaikos attacked the rival team’s bench, but resumed soon after. Violence erupted again outside OAKA Stadium after Olympiakos scored in the 53rd minute. Police used tear gas to disperse fans, TV images showed. Referee Marco Fritz abandoned the match in the 70th minute as tear gas wafted into the stadium.
