The 2018 Belt and Road Media Community Summit Forum was held on Tuesday in Xi'an, the origin of the ancient Silk Road. The capital of at least 12 dynasties is not expecting trade caravans today, but professionals from over 100 media outlets around the world.
Media professionals are meeting to map out a multi-faceted future, aimed at creating one of the largest platforms for cultural and innovation exchanges.
"Let us seize the opportunities created by the Belt and Road Initiative," said Xue Jijun, Chairman and President of China International Television Corporation.

Xue stressed that media organizations not only need to take the chance to cooperate further, but also need to see the bigger picture, striving to make a better and shared future for mankind.
The forum witnessed signings and launches of key cooperation projects, including the Eurasia News Sharing and Exchange Platform. The move is expected to enhance the sharing of resources among news agencies in the region.
"The media is the bridge of information exchange. To build a regional information sharing platform will need joint efforts from everyone," said Jiang Heping, head of China Global Television Network.

Jiang encouraged more cooperation under the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, and said the community is welcome to more media institutions joining the Eurasia News Sharing and Exchange Platform.
The Belt and Road Media Community was launched by China Central Television and China International Television Corporation in 2016. So far, more than 103 media and production companies from 51 countries and regions have joined the group.
Miguel Pereira, president of Radio and TV Argentina, was impressed, "This incredible forum of Belt and Road, I believe it's quite fruitful for everyone involved."
Some 2,000 years ago, the Silk Road began in Xi'an. The hope is that the Belt and Road Media Community can serve as a cultural bridge for more global innovation in the new era.
