Eight people were killed after a cave dwelling collapsed during renovation on Friday in Gongyi City, central China's Henan Province.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon when the residents were renovating their cave dwelling, leaving three people trapped. A second collapse took place when a group of seven people was rescuing the last trapped person.

Cave dwelling is a type of residence that is commonly seen in central and northwestern China.
