The 2018/19 FIS Snowboard halfpipe World Cup got underway on Wednesday at Chongli District, Zhangjiakou City, with China's female athlete Cai Xuetong leading the field to qualify for the final.
Cai scored the highest points of 92.50 in the women's preliminary round at the ski resort in Chongli District, which will serve as the 2022 Olympic Winter Games venue. Japanese duo Kurumi Imai and Hikaru Oe ranked second and third respectively.
The men's competition saw Swiss athletes Jan Scherrer and Iouri Podladtchikov qualify for the final in first and second places. China's Zhang Yiwei entered the final.
China sent a total of 17 athletes to the event and finals are expected to occur on Friday.
