The organizing committee of 2019 Shanghai International Film & TV Festival on Thursday revealed the jury list for the Golden Goblet Award of the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) and also announced the Chinese TV dramas shortlisted for the Magnolia Awards, which will be given away at the 25th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF). 

The festival organizers gave an overview of this year's festival at a press conference in Beijing. The gala night of the 22nd SIFF will be the first remote live broadcast of 5G+4K by China Media Group (CMG).

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China this year, there will be a special exhibition at the STVF. Viewers will be able to watch 12 feature films and two documentaries born in different ages as part of the panorama section titled "Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China."

These films reflect the social style and major historical events of the past 70 years, which have unique aesthetic value and distinct memory of the times, and some classic films will be shown for public welfare in the square after 4K restoration.

This year, SIFF plans to set up a "SIFF ASIA" framework, which will include Asian Film Panorama, Asian Project Co-production, Asian Film Salon and Asian Station Express in addition to the Asian New Talent Awards to encourage the creation and development of new films. The aim is to work together in exchange and mutual learning to cultivate the new forces of Asian films and stimulate the vitality of Asian films.

To enable TV audience nationwide to share the brilliance of SIFF, the gala night will be broadcast live on Channel 4K of CMG for the first time on the evening of June 15. This live broadcast will not only make the audience feel the warm atmosphere of "World Film, China Home" in front of the TV set but will also become the first case of using 5G+4K technology to broadcast the large-scale cultural activities in our country.

In addition to the live broadcast of the gala night, CMG will also install 4K big FHD screen in Shanghai Film City, the main venue of SIFF, and use 5G technology to broadcast live coverage of SIFF activities.

The Magnolia Awards have always been selected with an authoritative and fair evaluation mechanism and a serious, earnest and professional artistic attitude towards Chinese and foreign TV dramas, documentaries, animations, and variety shows.

During the Shanghai TV Festival, juries comprising famous artists and experts from Chinese and foreign TV industry will carry out the final evaluation for the Magnolia Awards in various categories.

A hundred film selectors will select the variety show category. On the evening of June 14, the Magnolia Awards will be announced at a ceremony.

The selection of the 22nd SIFF shortlist is underway and will be announced in early June. During the festival, all jurors will gather for the final selection of the Golden Goblet Award, the results of which will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of June 23.
