Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) defending champions, the Liaoning Flying Leopards, beat the Guangzhou Long-lions 101-91 on Friday. Liaoning are in second place in the standings and the team's star Guo Ailun has kept his side on the heels of leaders Guangzhou by scoring 24 points in their team's record 24th straight win.
Liaoning did not open well as the Flying Leopards only got 14 points in the first quarter, against Guangzhou's 20. The second quarter saw Liaoning cut the deficit to three under the guidance of Brandon Bass. But Kyle Fogg grabbed six consecutive points to help Guangzhou lead 45-38 after the first half. Fogg cut a game high of 48 points the whole night.
Liaoning broke out then, exceeding the hosts to lead 70-66 by the end of the third quarter. The Flying Leopards continued their dominance in the last quarter and played a wave of 13-0 to enlarge the lead to over 10 points.
Though Guangzhou tried to level up, taking the chance of Liaoning's mistakes, the Flying Leopards finally went on to end the game with a 10-point advantage at the final whistle.

In other games, Beijing beat Bayi, as Donald Sloan scored 39 points as Jiangsu handed Beikong their 11th straight loss. Jilin got the better of Nanjing while Zhang Qingpeng moved to third on the CBA all-time 3-pointers list as Shandong beat Fujian.
In the current standings, Guangdong remain on top and Liaoning are in the second place. Shenzhen sit third ahead of Guangsha, followed by Beijing and Xinjiang.
