At least three people were killed and 243 others injured after a strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit western Iran early Sunday, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake in Iran's Tazeh Abad town in western Kermanshah Province was at a depth of eight kilometers, according to Iranian Seismological Center.
The quake was felt as far away as Baghdad, according to Iraqi state television, which also said there were no injuries recorded.
There were also reports saying that the quake was felt far across the border into Iraq.
People in Tazeh Abad and the neighboring villages rushed to the streets in panic following the quake and camped in parks, state media reported.
Reports said water and power connections were broken and telephone lines were disrupted in the quake-hit region.
Kermanshah is still recovering from a devastating 7.3-magnitude quake that struck last November, killing 620 people in the province and another eight people in Iraq.
