China's under-23 national football team opened the 2018 Asian Games with a clean, 6-0 sweep of Timor-Leste on Tuesday night in Jakarta.
Five players from the Chinese side scored during the Group C matchup at SI Jalak Harupat Stadium: Zhang Yuning (4’), Zhang Yuan (20’), Gao Zhunyi (27’, 47’), Wei Shihao (33’), and Yao Junsheng (36’).
Forward Zhang Yuning opened scoring for China in the fourth minute on a corner from Yao Junsheng. The lopsided match continued from there as China would score four goals between the 20th and 36th minutes to finish the first half with a 5-0 lead.

In the second half, China’s only goal, which was also the second for Hebei China Fortune defender Gao Zhunyi’s, came in the 47th minute on an assist from Wei Shihao.
The three points place China at the top of the Group C table for the moment. China will step on the pitch again on August 16 to face Syria.
