The Tianchi Lake on Tianshan Mountains in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region embraced its first spring snow on Saturday, attracting tourists from across the country to the picturesque wonderland.
The snow started to fall Saturday night. As the darkness thinned on Sunday morning, the undulating waves of clouds were found almost frozen in the cold weather, with peaks and trees half-hidden beneath them and feathery snow falling obliquely against the dim light.
The accumulation of snow soon led to snow-clad mountains with unstained, glittering pinnacles, while boughs of pine woods adorned with the fluffy snow stretched out in front of tourists' eyes.
Such scenery swooned tourists, who traveled from afar to appreciate the unique beauty.
The Tianchi Lake has attracted 16,495 tourists during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, an important occasion for Chinese to honor their ancestors or deceased beloved ones. The tourists flow this year witnessed a 29.43 percent growth compared with last year, bringing in tourism revenue of around 9.25 million yuan (about 1.37 million U.S. dollars) to the scenic area.
