China's car-hailing giant Didi Chuxing said it will review Hitch, its carpooling service, and suspend it "indefinitely" until the revamped security measures get users' approval, its founder Cheng Wei and President Liu Qing said in a joint apology issued on Tuesday.
The murder, which occurred last week, is the second involving Didi drivers in about three months.
The statement was another apology by the company following the rape and murder of a 20-year-old female passenger using Didi's Hitch service in the city of Wenzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.
