For her second day in China, German Chancellor Merkel went to the country's high-tech powerhouse Shenzhen.
From the chancellor's talks with local officials, to the unveiling of the China-German Innovation Hub. The day spent, in Shenzhen, is ALL about technology and innovation.
Merkel also visited the Siemens R&D and Manufacturing Center in Shenzhen. The center develops leading MRI equipment, which accounts for one third of the brand's global output and more than 90 percent of its staff are local talents.
The delegation also stopped by iCarbonX, a start-up that offers health-management services and appliances, using AI, big-data analysis and bio-technology.
Wang Jun, founder & CEO of iCarbonX, said after the visit that the chancellor had said she was impressed by their use of technology.
"She was really interested in the technology and how things came about," Wang told CGTN.
He also said the chancellor was interested in how technology gets to the consumer so fast.
Phenix Qin, SVP of the company, said that "I think they're shocked about several things, the speed of our development, and the application scenarios we put the technology in."
The start-up is Merkel's last stop in her China visit this time. During her term as German chancellor, she has visited China 11 times.
