'Don Quixote' ballet show concludes annual Shanghai arts festival

After more than a month of artistic performances, the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival has come to an end with a final performance.
"Don Quixote" was staged Thursday evening at Shanghai's Grand Theatre by the National Ballet of Cuba.
The world-renowned ballet company has added a distinctly Cuban spin on the classic ballet adapted from the Spanish novel of the same name. It tells a story of a middle-aged country gentleman hopelessly absorbed with novels of chivalry who embarks on an adventure to go after the woman of his dreams.
Accompanied by live music by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, the performance has fantastic choreography, artistry and technique. The sounds and images are all up to the highest standards.
Established by veteran ballerina Alicia Alonso Martinez in 1948, the National Ballet of Cuba has grown into one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world.
A brief closing ceremony was held ahead of the show. It looked back at the 35 days of art celebration, which, according to the official release, has attracted artists from 63 countries and regions and over five million visits and viewings.
