One person was killed and four others were wounded, according to Reuters citing hospital source.
The injured have been admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya's largest referral hospital.
Inspector General Joseph Boinnet of the National Police Service later said the authorities aren't sure about the total number of injured.
"We regret to inform that there have been injuries in the attack and we are in the process of confirming the numbers and types of injuries incurred."

At least two bodies were found at the scene of an attack on an upscale hotel complex in Kenya's capital Nairobi, AP reported, citing a witness. Local police have yet to make the announcement on fatalities.
Somalia-based extremist group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, which is now treated as a terrorist attack.
The group attacked a shopping mall, also in Nairobi, in September 2013 and killed at least 67 people.

A blast following gunfire rocked a business complex in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, on Tuesday.
According to a CGTN Africa reporter, the gunfire is ongoing, and police have responded to the incident by cordoning off the surrounding area.
There's no immediate word on casualties, but people have been seen getting evacuated from the complex.
The DusitD2 compound, in which the incident took place, includes a hotel and several office buildings that house international companies.
Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing into the air and cars were on fire.
According to an early report from Reuters, police are dealing with a suspected robbery, but it is not clear whether the incident was always a robbery or if it started as an attack.
"All police teams including anti-terror officers are at the scene," police spokesman Charles Owino told AFP News Agency.
