Volunteers take care of grounded whale at S China coast

Volunteer divers took turns to take care of a wounded pilot whale aground in Sanya, a coastal city in south China's Hainan Province on June 7. Witnesses first reported the stranded short-finned female pilot whale, which was about 3.2 meters long and weighed 500 kilograms, to local authorities Friday night. Researchers of the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences then rushed to the scene.
