"The Key Decisions," the second episode of the in-depth eight-episode political documentary about China's 40 years of reform and opening up, “The Path to Prosperity,” features how China pursued the great path to prosperity under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The second episode revealed some key decisions the CPC made to lead the country to a brighter future.
In 1978, the Chinese people were in need of adequate food. The country was on its road of becoming strong. If people were not willing to have an open mind, they found themselves trapped with no future.
From the rural to the urban, from the private sector to the state-owned enterprises, breakthroughs were made one after another, and reforms were carried out. As the state underwent transformation, the creativity of Chinese people was hugely motivated
From the export processing zone set up in Shenzhen, to four special economic zones and cities, a system of multi-level opening up took shape from a global standpoint. China became integrated into the world.
Great theories can lead to the development of a great era.
Leaders cognizant of the needs of the times led China to the next stage of economic development.
As Chinese President Xi Jinping noted: “The Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC made the historic decision to shift the focus of the Party and the country to economic development and carry out the reform and opening-up program. It also called upon all Party members and people of all ethnic groups to embark on a new march towards socialist modernization. This is a transition of far-reaching significance in the history of the Party and the country.”
Under the leadership of the CPC, hundreds of millions of Chinese people broke new ground for socialism with Chinese characteristics. They have changed China as well as the world.
