China is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to accelerate the development of bilateral relations, said President Xi Jinping on Friday.
Xi made the remarks during his meeting with visiting President Danilo Medina of the Dominican Republic in Beijing.
The Chinese president spoke highly of Medina's move to establish diplomatic relationship with China half a year ago. He said history and facts would prove that the decision is completely correct.
Xi called for more cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), adding that both should seek active collaboration in fields such as infrastructure, financing, investment, tourism and general aviation.
Xi also noted that the cooperation between China and Latin America has significantly boosted the economic development in the Latin American countries and improved their people's livelihood.
During the meeting, Medina also vowed to deepen the friendship with China.
He said the establishment of diplomatic ties with China conforms to the interests of the Dominican Republic.
Medina emphasized that he expected both sides to work across the board under the framework of the BRI.
At the invitation of Xi, Medina is paying a state visit to China from November 1 to 6, during which he will also attend the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
This is Medina's first visit to China after the Dominican Republic established diplomatic ties with China in May this year.
