China's satellite Quantum Experiments at Space Scale received the annual Newcomb Cleveland Prize in Washington on February 14, 2019. The team of 34 Chinese physicists, led by Pan Jianwei of the University of Science and Technology of China, won the award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science for laying the groundwork for ultra-secure communication networks of the future. However, Pan was unable to attend the ceremony since his visa was "still being checked."
