The amphibious dock landing ship and comprehensive supply ships dispatched by the PLA Navy have played an important role in escort missions in the Gulf of Aden in the past 10 years. During the escorts, the formation consists of multiple types of ships, air-cushioned landing craft and shipboard helicopters, thus creating a new mode of escort by naval forces at sea.
