Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday met with Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and hailed the friendship between the two countries.
China-Mali friendship was initiated by the older generations of leaders of the two countries, Xi said, adding that destinies of the Chinese and Malian people have been linked in their causes of national independence and economic and social development.
The two countries are good brothers who share in success and woe, good friends who treat each other sincerely, and good partners who strive for common development, said the Chinese president.

Xi noted that China will continue to firmly support Mali's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, promote its peace and reconciliation process, and fight terrorism.
China will strengthen practical cooperation with Mali in key areas according to the West African country's development plans, he told Keita.
Xi added that China has been actively participating in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in Mali and will continue to support the efforts of countries in the Sahel region to maintain regional peace and security.
Keita described China as an old friend of Mali, saying that his country is willing to strengthen win-win cooperation with China in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, health, infrastructure and security.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents after their talks.
