China, France stress greater fairness in global governance

China and France will jointly explore fair and effective solutions to global governance and safeguard multilateralism.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks when attending the opening ceremony of the Global Governance Forum together with French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian on Monday in Paris, France.
Wang said that the international community has great expectations of cooperation between China and France in promoting world peace and development.
He made three propositions to the forum:
- Promoting global governance with frank negotiations and communications.
- Exploring cooperation between the two sides in connectivity, WTO (World Trade Organization) reform, e-governance using digital technologies, etc. in the spirit of partnership.
- Proposing feasible programs and constructive suggestions and enabling people from different classes and countries to share the benefits of global governance.
Le Drian said that France firmly adheres to multilateralism and is willing to work with China on dealing with global issues.
"Europe-Asia connectivity is in line with the Belt and Road Initiative," he added.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the closing ceremony of the forum along with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will deliver a speech, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
