"Crazy Rich Asians," the film which has already created a buzz in the North American film market, will be released in the Chinese mainland on November 30.
Its sequel, "China Rich Girlfriend," is scheduled to be filmed in Shanghai, said John Penotti, president of SK Global and one of the film's producers at the Chinese American Film Festival Cooperation Summit on Monday.
The film is based on a novel by Singaporean author Kevin Kwan and its part-two will be an adaptation of the author's another novel.
The story of "China Rich Girlfriend" takes place two years after the story of "Crazy Rich Asians" ends, with much of its scenes filmed in China.
According to the Mtime's report, it was unclear whether the producers would make the sequel a formal co-production with China.
SK Global, which produced the film, also announced that it has not yet decided whether it would be a formal co-production between China and the US, although it was certain the film would be filmed in Shanghai.
"Crazy Rich Asians" was the first all-Asian cast film in Hollywood in over 25 years, since the "The Joy Luck Club."
