NBA wrap-up: 2018-19 regular season records

The 2018-19 NBA regular season came to an end on Wednesday and it gave birth to many new records in its 177 days. CGTN has selected some of the most exciting ones to share with you.

13 players scored over 50 points in 22 games, the most in NBA history. Nine of these games were from James Harden and two by Devin Booker. The other 11 were Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose, Klay Thompson, Kemba Walker, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jamal Crawford.
Harden became the first 2,800, 500 and 500 player in the league's history thanks to his 2,818 points, 518 rebounds and 586 assists. He was also the first man in the NBA to shoot over 1,000 times (1,028) from the 3-pt line.

Russell Westbrook continued to break his triple-double record by becoming the first NBA player to reach three straight triple-double seasons. In the past season, he also had 11 games in a row in all of which he took triple-doubles, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain's nine-consecutive-game in 1968.
On February 5, LeBron James claimed 18 points, breaching 32,000 in his career scoring. It also helped him surpass Kobe Bryant (36 years and 87 days old) to become the youngest player (34 years and 67 days old) in NBA history to drop 32,000 points.
James delivered 454 assists in the past season, making his career total assists 8,662, which ranks No.10 in history. Thanks to his fourth most 32,543 points, James became the first NBA player who could rank within top 10 in both scoring and assisting.

Klay Thompson on October 29, 2018, buried the NBA's most 14 three-pointers in one game, breaking the record held by his teammate Stephen Curry. Moreover, though Thompson scored 52 points that day, he only touched the ball 52 times for 96 seconds.
The following record is also about 3-pts and from the Splash Brothers, Curry and Thompson. The two respectively made 354 and 238 three-pointers this season, sinking over 200 three balls for seven straight seasons, the most in the league's history.
Devin Booker on March 25 had 59 points in the game against the Utah Jazz and, two days later got 50 points in the game against the Washington Wizards, making the 22-year-148-day-old guard the youngest NBA player to score 50-plus points in two consecutive games.

Trae Young dropped 49 points, eight rebounds and 16 assists in the game against the Chicago Bulls on March 1 and he is the first one-year rookie who had at least 45 points and 15 assists in one game.
Another one-year rookie, Luka Doncic on January 27 took a triple-double of 35 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists at the age of 19 years and 33 days old, becoming the first NBA player who had a 30+ point triple-double before reaching 20 years old.
39-year-old Jamal Crawford continued to write his story as one of the league's best scorers on the bench. On Tuesday, he had 51 points in the game against the Dallas Mavericks to become the oldest player with 50+point performance and score the most points a bench player can get. Besides, Crawford is also the only player in NBA history who scored 50+ points for four different teams.

Wade received more than cheers and flowers in his last dance. In the past 2018-19 regular season, he reached 1,059 in blocks, surpassing Michael Jordan (1,051) to lead guards' career blocking least.
Vince Carter, who joined the league in 1998, played 44 minutes and 53 seconds in the game against the Bulls on March 1 at the age of 42 years and 35 days, the oldest in NBA history. Three days later, he scored 21 points in the game against the Miami Heat, becoming the oldest player who scored 20+points in one game and the first one in NBA to make at least seven three-pointers after reaching 40 years old.

As the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics on January 26, GSW's head coach Steve Kerr reached 300 wins as head coach after 377 games, less than Pat Riley's 416 games. Kerr became the fastest head coach to reach 300 victories in NBA history.
The other legendary coach of the league, Gregg Popovich, led the Spurs win 48 games this season, reaching 1,412 in his total coaching wins, which tied the record of Lenny Wilkens as the most in the league's history.
