Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says he intends to fight both ISIL and Kurdish forces in the northeast of Syria. The statement comes after the announcement of U.S. plans to withdraw all American troops in Syria. The U.S.-backed Kurdish YPG and its allies have been the dominant force fighting ISIL in the northeast of Syria. But Erdogan has long castigated his NATO ally over its support for Syrian Kurds allied to the Turkish armed separatist group, the PKK.
