Usually, a broken mirror cannot be fixed. But things are different when it comes to ceramic menders. They do not make porcelain or pottery, but they can help repair shattered ones. /VCG Photo.
Wang Peibo, a ceramic mender in Chengdu, northwest China's Sichuan Province, was born in a family with the traditional skill. His grandfather used to tell him "the ceramic mending is magic to endow things with a second life." /VCG Photo.
However, as an old saying goes, great talents mature slowly. Wang did not follow his family's path but pursued international business when he was young as the Chinese economy was growing rapidly. He finally retrieved his passion for ceramic mending in middle age. After his wife, who is fond of cooking, broke her favorite pottery pot, Wang self-learnt ceramic mending quickly, drawing on those childhood memories. /VCG Photo.
Now, Wang has grown into a ceramic mending master. He has also helped repair hundreds of artworks and antiques, worth tens of thousands of yuan. /VCG Photo.
