A female takin was spotted looking for food in the snow with its cub at a forest park near northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Normally, a takin hunts alone in the mountains, making the sight of the pair very rare. The takin is a first-class protected animal in China. It lives in dense forests with high elevation and low temperatures. Takins are mostly found in China, but they are also in Nepal, India, Myanmar and Bhutan, where it is taken as a species of national importance.
