At the FIS Junior World Championships in New Zealand, China's Gong Naiying won silver in the women's parallel giant slalom, finishing just 0.006 second behind the gold medal performance.
Gong had previously won a bronze at the 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games in Japan's in this event. The 20-year-old headed into competition with Russia's Milena Bykova, eventually coming away with a silver.
She is now China's first medal winner at a Junior World Championships parallel event.
The 20-year-old Chinese snowboarder had earlier competed in the 2015 and 2017 FIS Snowboard World Championships, and in the 2018 Winter Olympics, in parallel giant slalom.
In this year's tournament, 69 athletes from more than 20 countries and regions took part in the championships. It was a first time many of the Chinese contingent had participated at an A level competition.
