At least 16 people were killed and 38 others injured by a car bomb blast in Kandahar City, capital of Afghanistan’s southern province Kandahar, on Tuesday, Reuters reported citing a local official.
"The huge blast occurred in Police District 14 of the city at around 12:30 p.m. local time. The whole place has now been sealed off. The blast caused a plume of gray smoke to rise above the scene," Xinhua reported citing an eyewitness.
Nematullah Barak, head of Mirwais hospital in Kandahar, said the injured have been hospitalized but more casualties have been arriving.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the explosion so far.
