China is firmly opposed to the US flip-flopping in trade and will enact immediate countermeasures on US products with equal force and scale, both China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced on Friday, soon after the US pushed ahead with the tariff list targeting Chinese imports.
China does not want to engage in a trade war, but has to fight back in response to the US short-sighted tariff move to safeguard its interests and protect globalization and multilateralism, the ministries said, while also pointing out that all outcomes achieved through China-US negotiations will be withdrawn.
