China and Vietnam are a community of shared future with strategic significance, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.
Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is in Beijing to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) scheduled for April 25-27.
Xi called for joint efforts to align China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Vietnam's "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan.
The two countries should also enhance coordination and collaboration on the international stage in order to safeguard the common interests of both sides as well as other developing countries.
The Vietnamese prime minister said his country is willing to step up efforts to align the "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan with the BRI.
He added that Vietnam is willing to work with China to properly manage maritime issues.
