China and Vatican have signed a provisional agreement on the appointment of bishops in Beijing, China's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.  

The agreement was signed by Wang Chao, China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and  Antoine Camilleri, head of a Vatican delegation and the Under-Secretary for Relations with States.

"China and Vatican will continue to maintain communication and promote the work to improve bilateral relations," said the statement.
